The short version
ProteinMaxxing does not collect your data. There is no account, no sign-up, no email, no analytics and no advertising. The app makes no network requests. Everything you log stays on your device, and deleting the app deletes it.
What the app stores, and where
All of it is stored locally on your device and nowhere else:
- Your entries — the name you gave each entry, its protein in grams, and the date and time it was logged.
- Your settings — your daily protein goal, your bodyweight and whether you enter it in pounds or kilograms, your chosen goal tier, and which reminders you have switched on.
- Foods you add yourself — the name and protein per serving, plus any foods you mark as favourites.
The app records protein only. It does not store calories, carbohydrates, fat, or your weight over time, because it does not track them at all.
What the app does not do
- It does not create an account or ask for your name, email address or phone number.
- It does not send your information anywhere. There is no server, and the app makes no network requests of any kind.
- It does not use analytics, tracking, advertising identifiers, cookies, or any third-party SDK. The app ships with no third-party code.
- It does not sell, rent or share your information, because it never receives it.
Notifications
If you turn reminders on, the app schedules them locally on your device using iOS's own notification system. Nothing is sent to us or through any server, and no push notification service is involved. You can turn reminders off at any time in Settings inside the app, or in the iOS Settings app.
Ratings
The app may ask you once, after your first entry, whether you would like to rate it. That uses Apple's own rating prompt. We never see whether you rated it, or what you said. We ask once and never again.
Deleting your data
- Clear today in Settings removes the current day's entries.
- Reset app in Settings deletes everything you have logged and returns all settings to their defaults.
- Deleting the app removes all of it from your device.
Because none of it ever leaves your device, there is nothing for us to delete on our end and no request you need to make of us.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone. Since it collects nothing from anyone at all, this is true of every age.
Apple
Apple collects its own information when you download an app, and may collect crash and usage data if you have opted into sharing it with developers in your device settings. That collection is Apple's, governed by Apple's privacy policy, and it happens whether or not you use this app. Any crash reports we receive through Apple are aggregated and do not identify you.
Health information
The app is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. The goal tiers it offers are general training guidance based on bodyweight. If you have a kidney condition, are pregnant, or are managing any medical condition, talk to a doctor or a dietitian before setting a protein target.
The app does not currently read from or write to Apple Health. If that changes, this policy will be updated before the feature ships, and any access will be opt-in and off by default.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever starts collecting or transmitting anything, this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the effective date at the top will change.
